The Divinity Emanating from the Nakshatras!🌟

An ocean of information is hidden underneath the layers of Nakshatras. It's astounding to even fathom the amount of knowledge that is woven around the stars. Apart from Nakshatras being prominent in the South of India especially when it comes to performing Abhishek for God, even from an astrological parlance it opens the door to a whole new realm of data pointers that can be so evocative.

This article is largely focused on the divine element interspersed within the Nakshatras. The Nakshatras are basically a bunch of stars forming a pattern within the 360° zodiac and are said to be divided into 27 numbers beginning from Ashwini located in the first zodiac sign of Aries to Revathi which is placed in the twelfth and final zodiac sign of Pisces. There is however a view point also of the Nakshatra cycle beginning from Krithika which connotes the 'Head' till Bharani which signifies the 'end of life' as it's ruled by Lord 'Yama'. However for all practical purposes it makes sense to follow the order from Ashwini to Revathi for ease of use and counting purposes.

There is a lot of spiritual information intertwined within the stars. When it comes to the Nakshatras, it's the Nakshatra occupied by the Moon that is primary and considered sacrosanct. The whole 'Tara' sequence originates based on which Nakshatra the Moon is placed in one's birth horoscope. The planet Moon after all is the imprint and denotes the signification of the mind. It governs our thoughts, emotions and actions. Moon is the Body that nurtures us and instils a feeling of care, longing and sensitivity. It also has an element of freewill and there is a popular tamil saying that goes "விதியை மதியால் வெல்லலாà®®்" or "Vidhiyai Madhiyaal Vellalaam" which translates as what cannot be overcome by destiny can be won over by one's mind (Moon). Even from the tutelage of a Horoscope, two of the most important timing events viz Dasa Bukthi which expounds the sequence of important time periods and Transits which are the planets circulating signs currently in operation within the zodiac is reckoned mainly from the Moon. Having established this framework, let's go about seeing how it needs to be played out.

First up sharing all the divine enclosures incorporated within each Nakshatra such as the Deity, God to worship, birth star temples, Siddhar or Rishi to take obeisance, form of Ganapathy, associated Bhairava, connected Mantra, offering (Dhanyam), type of Abhishekham etc. After the listing of this information, we will take a look at how best one can invoke the divine having been born in a particular Nakshatra with a specific illustration and also look at the Navatara sequence to understand the results provided by each of the 27 Tara's.

Concept of God as per Hinduism and the Associated Nakshatras
Some observations worth inferring is that when it comes to the Trimurti concept of Hinduism represented by the 3 Primary deities Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva that embody the functions of creation, preservation and destruction respectively, it is interesting to note that they tend to rule the following Nakshatras viz:
Brahma - Rohini
Vishnu - Tiruvonam (Shravana)
Shiva - Tiruvadirai (Arudra)

Though there are a number of Nakshatras ruled by forms of Shiva, Tiruvadirai reigns supreme on being the hardcore ruler of Rudra. Similar is the case with Tiruvonam which is the de facto Nakshatra invoking Maha Vishnu.
When it comes to the concept of Tridevi who are the respective consorts of the Trimurtis and known as Saraswathi (Brahma's consort), Lakshmi (Vishnu's consort) and Parvathi (Shiva's consort), they are also said to invoke certain Nakshatras. Saraswathi is known to be the Goddess of learning & education, Lakshmi - the goddess of wealth & prosperity and Parvathi - the goddess of love and devotion. Her highness Parvathi is also known for her fierce form of Durga & Kali representing power and protection. The Nakshatra's ruled by the Tridevi's are as under:
Saraswathi - Ashwini
Lakshmi - Swathi
Parvathi - Pooram (Poorva Phalguni)
Durga (Parvathi fierce form) - Bharani
Hinduism according to Vedic scriptures has this concept of classifying the deities into 33 types. The 33 Gods are further divided as 12 Adityas, 11 Rudras, 8 Vasus, and 2 Ashwins. There is however a slight variation in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad which classifies the 33 deities as 12 Adityas, 11 Rudras, 8 Vasus with the remaining 2 being made up by Indra and Prajapati. Based on this concept, we can classify these sub classification of deities to be ruling different Nakshatras
12 Adityas - Punarpoosam (Punarvasu)
11 Rudras - Tiruvadirai (Arudra)
8 Vasus - Avittam (Dhanishta)
2 Ashwins - Ashwini
With respect to the 12 Adityas, the deity of Punarpoosam (Punarvasu) is said to be 'Aditi' - the mother of the 12 Adityas. The 12 Adityas are characterised by the following names viz Dhata, Aryama, Mitra, Varuna, Indra, Vivasvan, Tvastha, Vishnu, Amshuman, Bhaga, Poosan and Parjanya. Many of these are themselves ruled by different Nakshatras such as Aryama - Pooram (Poorva Phalguni), Mitra - Anusham (Anuradha), Varuna - Sadayam (Satabhisha), Indra - Kettai (Jyeshta), Tvastha - Chithirai (Chitra), Vishnu - Tiruvonam (Shravana), Bhaga - Uthiram (Uttara Phalguni) and Poosan - Revathi
When it comes to the 11 Rudras, the ruler of Rudra is Tiruvadirai (Arudra). The 11 avatars of Rudras listed in the Shiva Purana include the names 1) Kapali 2) Pingal 3) Bheem 4) Virupaksha 5) Vilohita 6) Shastra 7) Aja Ekapaad 8) Ahir Budhanya 9) Shambhu 10) Chand and 11) Bhava. Out of this Aja Ekapaad is ruled by the Nakshatra Poorattathi (Poorva Bhadrapada) and Ahir Budhanya is ruled by the Nakshatra Uthirattathi (Uttara Bhadrapada)
The 8 Vasus describe the material elements of Agni (Fire), Prithvi (Earth), Vayu (Air), Apah (Water), Akash (Sky/Ether), Nakshatra (Stars) and the luminaries Aditya (Sun) and Soma (Moon). These are all collectively ruled by the star Avittam (Dhanishta). However individually some of these elements such as Fire can be linked to Karthigai (Krithika), Vayu to Swathi, Apah to Pooradam (Poorva Ashada), Sun to Hastham (Hastha) and Moon to Mrigasheerisham (Mrigashira).
The 2 Ashwins are collectively referred to as Ashwini Kumars and are said to be twin solar deities by names Nasatya and Dasra. The Ashwins are said to be sons of the Sun God Surya and his wife Sanjana. The Ashwins are especially known for their medicinal and healing abilities. The twin solar deities are associated with the Nakshatra Ashwini. Considering the alternate context of the final 2 Gods being mentioned as Indra & Prajapati, then in that case Indra is associated with the Nakshatra of Kettai (Jyeshya) and Prajapati is connected to the Nakshatra of Rohini.
Worshipping of the Nakshatras with Illustration
When it comes to worshipping the divine elements associated with the Nakshatra's there are some notions being fed currently that one should not inculcate the deities of the stars that are not in a favourable Tara (star progression). Also there is a view of only the Janma Nakshatra taking precedence when it comes to prayers. This is correct because offering prayers on your birth Nakshatra acts as a shield of protection but there are also other Nakshatras which attain prominence when invoking the divine. It should however be noted that the Janma Nakshatra holds forte and is the reckoning point when ascertaining the divinity with respect to the other Nakshatras.

Based on the Nakshatra in which the Moon is placed in one's birth horoscope, it would be beneficial and a blessing to take obeisance to the respective celestial entities. Lets take the illustration of one Nakshatra viz Tiruvonam aka Shravana and see how best the divine can be invoked. The ancient text 'Kumaraswamiyam' by Lord Muruga recognises a domicile or place of power for every Nakshatra and for Shravana "any place of worship" is considered as it's abode. Thus, just going to any temple by default activates the energy of Shravana Nakshatra.

Seeing it from the lens of Tara Bala, first up one being born in the Janma Nakshatra of Shravana, that particular day in operation is supposed to infuse tension. Hence worshipping Vishnu by chanting Vishnu Sahasranam or praying to any form representing the Lord such as Perumal or Hayagriva for instance can give them protection. Taking the lineage name of their Rishi which in this case is Rishi Vasishta and obtaining the blessings of their Siddhar Dakshinamurthy can keep them preserved and in good stead. Also there is a general norm of stating one's Janma Nakshatra along with the respective Rasi, Gothra and other particulars provided to the priest to perform Archana in their name. Their Karma Nakshatra viz 10th from their natal Moon is where their past life connection lies. Hence anything related to Rohini Nakshatra can make them have a close initiation based on the Karmas of their past life. On personal observation, have witnessed that these natives have a strong connect with their Karma hence you may see an association with Brahma - the creator, Lord Krishna, Kala Bhairava etc. Rohini is said to represent "Chariot" which can be related to a "Car" in present day world and in fact it might be startling to believe but have actually come across many Tiruvonam (Shravana) natives stating that they absolutely love driving vehicles. It's like as if this trait has been ingrained right from their previous life and those with positive karma tend to be pro's at relevant significations pertaining to their Karma star. The 19th Nakshatra Adhana is the one denoting their "Praptha" and which they have a deep longing and feeling for. Hence for Shravana, the 19th Nakshatra happens to be Hastha and invoking Lord Surya Narayana or doing related stuff such as Yoga, Surya Namaskara, Gayathri chanting etc will help keep their destiny in order.

Other than the Janma/Anujanma/Trijanma Nakshatra, divinities of other Nakshatras can also be initiated such as for instance from the 6th Sadhaka (Achievements) Tara set, the 6th Nakshatra is said to be 'Deiva Anukoolam' translated as favours from God, hence worshipping Shani on Revathi Nakshatra or visiting Sri Rangam can be really beneficial. The 15th Nakshatra mentions about getting attachments from near and dear hence in this case being Ayilyam or Ashlesha, worshipping Snake God or Maharishi Agathiyar can help in forming an intimate connection. The 24th Nakshatra Kettai or Jyeshta mentions about unexpected victories and coming unscathed from any sort of problems - thus invoking Varahi can give them this power.

From the 4th Nakshatra set known as Kshemam (comforts), invoking the 13th Nakshatra Punarpoosam/Punarvasu significations is said to be extremely beneficial and this also relates to Jeeva Samadhi. So worshipping Lord Rama/Holy Mother/Sage Dhanvantri etc can be very benevolent and comforting. Coming to the 9th Nakshatra set known as Parama Mitra (Extremely friendly), connecting to Agni Bhagwan and Krithika, their 9th Nakshatra by taking refuge at Tiruvannamalai can help enhance their fire energy and make it work very favourably. And then there is the 27th Nakshatra signalling a full completion cycle. This Nakshatra mentions about bowing your head in front of God for seeking favours and this one being Uthiradam or Uttara Ashada, taking obeisance of Lord Ganapathi will be of great support and getting benefits.

For activating money & prosperity, they should touch upon their 2nd Nakshatra set Sampat (Wealth) especially their 2nd Nakshatra Avittam or Dhanishta and 20th Nakshatra Chithirai or Chitra. For Avittam, praying to Ananda Sayana Perumal can be helpful and since this Nakshatra is also known to be birth star of Mercury (Buddha) which is said to rule 64 Kalas (arts or skills), taking up any skilful activity can be fruitful to activate finance. Likewise their 20th Nakshatra is Chitra which is everything to do with creativity. Thus utilising their creative flair can yield rich dividends. This Nakshatra also talks about embroidered clothes. Thus Shravana individuals, if they do take an active interest with respect to the clothes they adorn, money may indirectly flow to them. With respect to the 8th Nakshatra set Mitra (Friendly), praying to their 8th Nakshatra Bharani and getting blessings of Durga/Kali/Amman can give them good clarity and thought process. Similarly 17th Nakshatra Pooram when they pray to Parvathi/Andal can help in their relationships soaring and bonding being strong. Lastly on this set, calling upon their 20th Nakshatra Pooradam which is predominantly connected to the water element and praying to Jambukeshwarar or taking the hand of Almighty Jesus can be very beneficial in getting support from the society and community. It doesn't mean that the divine pertaining to other Nakshatras cannot be invoked. However it should be noted that any Tara which comes as a negative one to their Janma Tara, it would probably be prudent to provide a Dhanyam (offering) and then take blessings and prayers.

Results of Navatara Cycle - Janma, Anujanma and Trijanma
Listed below is a general gist of the results provided by the sequence order of Nakshatras. The Janma indicates current birth, Anujanma rebirth or associated with the past and Trijanma future birth or that at the tertiary soul level. In each of these cycles, the Taras are divided into 9 and said to denote different significations. First let's look at the general significations for the 9 Taras followed by the specific significations for each of the 27 Taras as framed by the ancient holy text 'Kumaraswamiyam'

Janma Tara: (1,10,19)
This in essence is the birth Nakshatra and establishes one's individuality, existence and health. The default ruler of Janma Tara happens to be Sun.

Janma Cycle - Tara 1 - Janma (Mana Klesham, Padhattam, Prachana)
The Janma Nakshatra day is said to infuse plenty of tensions, cause anxiety, create problems and make the mind fickle. The mind always tends to be unsteady during days of Janma Nakshatras and it can be related to the prevailing environment when a child is about to take birth which is associated with a lot of difficulty and stress. This day especially requires protection and hence invoking God's blessings can be beneficial. This is one of the main reasons why in the temple we offer obeisance to the Lord on our Janma Nakshatra day.

Anujanma Cycle - Tara 10 - Karma (Karyam)
The Janma Nakshatra in the Anujanma cycle is heavily dependent upon our past life karma. A lot of our actions in our present life plays out based on what we were in the past and hence the initiations in this birth tend to be related a lot to our previous existence. There is even a chance of getting cheated and hurt but on the other side can also lead to fulfilment. It is witnessed that the deity associated with the Karma Nakshatra has a strong hold on us.

Trijanma Cycle - Tara 19 - Aadhangam (Praptham)
The Janma Nakshatra in the Trijanma cycle is associated with deep feelings, emotions and longing. We tend to receive results based upon our earlier destiny in the future periods. This is generally said to be the most auspicious Tara in this set of Janma Tara cycle.

Sampat Tara: (2,11,20)
This denotes all things related with wealth, prosperity and happiness. The default ruler of Sampat Tara is Mercury.

Janma Cycle - Tara 2 - Sampat (Dhanam, Selvam, Sandosham)
The second Nakshatra in the Janma cycle is said to be highly propitious especially with money related matters and doesn't associate with any negative connotations

Anujanma Cycle - Tara 11 - Samudaya Pagai (Uravugal Thundippu)
The 11th Tara or the second Nakshatra in the Anujanma cycle has a hitch because it mentions that this time can lead to problems with society and ties being severed with close members. Thus, though it is a favorable Nakshatra at large, it comes with its own issues.

The word 'Kshemam' as such endorses about being in good health and a comfortable state of mind. Hence this is about the well being of the individual concerned by possessing the requisite vitality and being in good spirits. Kshema Tara is default ruled by Jupiter.

Janma Cycle - Tara 4 - Kshemam (Sowkiyam, Vaama Vedhai)
The fourth Nakshatra in the Janma cycle is said to denote comforts and safety but however there is a forewarning as this Tara also connotes 'Vaama Vedhai' which can create hostility or argument when any important work or meeting is said to take place eventually leading to issues, mind problems and mental pain. Thus, it advises the avoidance of something important taking place when the 4th Nakshatra is in transit.

Anujanma Cycle - Tara 13 - Adhigga Sirappu (Padhavi Uyarvu, Jeeva Samadhi)
The 13th Tara or the fourth Nakshatra in the Anujanma cycle is excellent in every way possible. It is the Tara that can lift you up to great heights and this is also the Tara specifically mentioned to invoke Jeeva Samadhi for getting spiritual enlightenment

However it is mentioned that only the 88th pada is very harmful which would be the 4th pada of the 22nd star if one were born in the 1st pada of Janma Nakshatra, For the other 3 padas, it will move to the 23rd star 1st, 2nd and 3rd pada. Irrespective it is expected to exercise caution when the 22nd Nakshatra is in operation.

..................................................................................................................................................................

Offerings when Negative Tara is in Operation
In general, it is witnessed that the Tara sets of 1 (Janma), 3 (Vipat), 5 (Pratyek), 7 (Vadha) are advised to be avoided especially for performing any activity as the Tara Bala is said to be weak on these days. However in cases where it is unavoidable, it can still be proceeded by donating the following items when these Tara's are in operation
Janma Tara: Kaigari - Vegetables
Vipat Tara: Vellam - Jaggery
Pratyek Tara: Uppu - Salt
Vadha Tara: Ellu - Sesame

Vedha Nakshatras - Enemy and Repellent to Each Other
Also irrespective of Tara being favourable or unfavourable, there is also a concept of Vedha Nakshatras where certain Nakshatras are said to repel one another. They may be in favourable Tara progression but if they happen to be Vedha (repel), it is better not to invoke the items related to that particular Nakshatra unless prior precaution is taken. The Nakshatra's that are Vedha to each other are as follows:
Ashwini X Kettai (Jyeshta)
Bharani X Anusham (Anuradha)
Karthigai (Krithika) X Visagam (Vishakha)
Rohini X Swathi
Mrigaseerisham (Mrigashira) X Chithirai (Chitra) X Avittam (Dhanishta)

Synastry Matching - Compatibility of Zodiac Signs

The age old question of which Zodiac sign is compatible with which Zodiac sign has always raised eyebrows and is always a topic that arouses a lot of interest. Though there is no one stop solution to this, we can do it by exercising some caution to the wind and adopting a restrained approach by looking at a few definitive factors. It's of course a different matter when other planetary positions come into the fray. However for synastry matching, it's best to consider each others Ascendant as it determines the physical characteristics and also a slight consideration of Moon is perhaps pertinent as it is to do with the mind and denotes the mental framework.

The three best ways to analyse synastry would be by looking at the following factors:
Based on Nature - Movable or Cardinal, Fixed or Static, Dual or Mutable
Based on Element - Fire, Earth, Air, Water
Based on Planetary Relationship - Mars, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn

Blending the three I believe one will be able to establish some sort of perception and arrive at a conclusion whether at all the two signs in question bond in any way or not. Let's categorize these 12 zodiac signs based on the 3 factors mentioned.
Aries - Movable / Fire / Mars
Taurus - Fixed / Earth / Venus
Gemini - Dual / Air / Mercury
Cancer - Movable / Water / Moon
Leo - Fixed / Fire / Sun
Virgo - Dual / Earth / Mercury
Libra - Movable / Air / Venus
Scorpio - Fixed / Water / Mars
Sagittarius - Dual / Fire / Jupiter
Capricorn - Movable / Earth / Saturn
Aquarius - Fixed / Air / Saturn
Pisces - Dual / Water / Jupiter

It is also a good ploy to look at some key words associated with these 3 factors:
Based on Nature:
Movable - Promoting Change, Enterprising, Outgoing, Restless, Taking Control, Over Active
Fixed - Resistance to Change, Focus, Practical, Firm, Persistence, Stubborn,
Dual -  Constant Change, Flexible, Adaptable, Fluctuating, Indecisive, Inconsistent, Balance

Based on Element:
Fire - Action oriented, Outgoing, Impatient, Forceful, Enthusiastic, Impatient, Careless
Earth - Responsibility, Hard working, Organized, Practical, Stable, Reserved, Critical, Steady
Air - Socially Active, Communicative, Tolerant, Nervous, Superficial, Aloof, Eccentric
Water - Feelings, Imagination, Sensitive, Artistic, Intuitive, Psychic, Moody, Secretive, Unrealistic

Based on Planet:
Mars - Action, Energy, Strength, Spirit, Movement
Venus - Passion, Pleasures, Relationship, Taste, Artistic
Mercury - Intelligence, Creative, Calculative, Analytical, Logic
Moon - Emotions, Nurturing, Mind, Moody, Imagination, Psychology
Sun - Courage, Ordering, Leadership, Soul, Ego, Status, Authoritative
Jupiter - Wisdom, Teaching, Traditional, Philosophical, Expansion, Benevolent
Saturn - Hard working, Persevering, Conservative, Patience, Justice, Discipline

The synastry matching come under 7 pairings and when extended turns up to a total of 78 possibilities. The different pairing axis are as follows: 1/1, 2/12, 3/11, 4/10, 5/9, 6/8 and 7/7. Each of these axis has 12 combinations each except for the 7/7 matching where there are only 6 possibilities. Let's look at all the different combinations making up the sum total of 78

1) Aries - Aries
2) Taurus - Taurus
3) Gemini - Gemini
4) Cancer - Cancer
5) Leo - Leo

48) Pisces - Gemini

5/9 Axis:
49) Aries - Leo
50) Taurus - Virgo
51) Gemini - Libra
52) Cancer - Scorpio
53) Leo - Sagittarius
54) Virgo - Capricorn
55) Libra - Aquarius
56) Scorpio - Pisces
57) Sagittarius - Aries
58) Capricorn - Taurus
59) Aquarius - Gemini
60) Pisces - Cancer

6/8 Axis:
61) Aries - Virgo
62) Taurus - Libra
63) Gemini - Scorpio
64) Cancer - Sagittarius
65) Leo - Capricorn
66) Virgo - Aquarius
67) Libra - Pisces
68) Scorpio - Aries
69) Sagittarius - Taurus
70) Capricorn - Gemini
71) Aquarius - Cancer
72) Pisces - Leo

7/7 Axis:
73) Aries - Libra
74) Taurus - Scorpio
75) Gemini - Sagittarius
76) Cancer - Capricorn
77) Leo - Aquarius
78) Virgo - Pisces

With respect to Nature, the similar nature signs get along with each other as they possess a similar characteristic. In general Movable may not get along with Fixed signs as their characteristics are different but both Movable and Fixed signs maintain some sort of association with Dual nature signs as it is known to be a judicious mix of the two and maintains the balance. Fixed with Dual can be a little better than Movable with Dual especially as the negative tendencies of the two can multiply when pecked together. Coming to elements, apart from their own elements, it's a general rule of thumb that Fire signs and Air signs always go well and same is the case with Earth and Water signs. Fire in general isn't compatible with Water signs and when compared with Earth signs they are of contrary nature causing heads to turn. Earth and Air signs usually tend to lack an understanding and when it comes to Air and Water signs it is seemingly better when aligned but disagreements can flare up due to the logical side of Air going in a different tangent with respect to the emotional thinking of water signs. When addressing planetary relationships, we can group the 7 planets into two categories viz Deva Guru Jupiter led group comprising of Jupiter, Mars, Sun & Moon and the Asura Guru group headed by Venus which includes Venus, Mercury and Saturn. The Deva Guru planets are generally good with each other and the same holds true for the signs ruled by the Asura Guru planets. Zodiac signs owned by Deva Guru ruled planets hold an inimical relationship with those ruled by Asura Guru planets and vice versa.

Hence while doing a synastry compatibility check, it is paramount to keep all these factors into account. Blanket statements passed such as 1/1, 5/9, 7/7 axis all being samples of great matches may not always be the case. For instance both Aries personalities under 1/1 group could lead to excess fire and overload of movable energy while on the other hand perhaps two Taurus personalities may hold better as Earth signs are generally more stolid and can hold up even though it can be too one-dimensional. Sometimes even a 6/8 combination such as Virgo & Aquarius may end up being a decent choice as the planetary rulers are friends and also a fixed with dual sign placement can strike a better balance if the Earth and Air bonding can maintain a cordiality. Within these 6/8 axis itself some are better than the others for eg Scorpio & Aries match can be more fruitful than say a Leo - Capricorn match.

Though, there are numerous classifications associated with zodiac signs, I singularly feel that the nature, element and planetary relationships hold the key in establishing the finer side and dissecting the zodiac signs at an intricate level to understand the level of compatibility which the zodiac signs possess.

Navamsa Construction and other important concepts pertaining to D9

The Navamsa or D9 happens to be the most important divisional chart in a horoscope. It goes tete-a-tete with the rasi chart and a horoscope virtually feels incomplete without its presence. As the name D9 stands it talks about the Dharma or the 9th division or in essence reflects on a microscopic view of a rasi in 9 equal divisions. For the mathematically initiated a rasi consists of 30° with each Navamsa part containing 3°20' each.

There is a myth prevailing that Navamsa is all about marriage and spouse but in essence it is the dharma trine and can also be used to assess a native's skills, abilities and talent. It also gives a break down of the strength of a planet from where it is placed in the Navamsa and many often a weak placement in rasi can get over ruled by a strong presence in Navamsa.

Navamsa can be broken into 'Nava' meaning 9 and 'Amsa' meaning division. It is also referred to as the 'Dharmamsa'. The way it is derived is that the 9th house is all about Dharma and the 11th house speaks about desires. The 11th from 9th becomes the 7th or rather the fructification from Dharma turns out to be the D9 or Navamsa chart and since the resultant happens to be the 7th house (11th from 9th), it is pretty understandable to see it as one of the primary factors for issues pertaining to marriage. The Dharma angle here however should not be compromised and holds the major say in the scheme of things.

This particular post is not about an analysis about the D9 but more about the construction of it and I will list down 3 different methods which can be used for the same. The article will also touch upon some important concepts of the Navamsa which is like a corollary addendum when one understands how the counting works.

1) Classification based Counting:
As one is aware, the 12 rasis are classified into 3 types viz Movable (Cadinal), Fixed and Dual (Mutable) and they keep getting repeated in a cyclical order with Aries being a Movable sign, Taurus Fixed and Gemini Dual with the pattern followed again from Cancer onwards. Navamsa counting always begins from a Movable sign and there's a reason for it as when you start counting from the first movable sign the 9th will end up being a dual sign with the baton being passed on again to a movable sign with the last 9th part again falling in a dual and so on and so forth. Thus if a planet falls in a movable rasi, start counting directly from the respective movable rasi, if a planet is situated in a fixed rasi start counting from the 9th sign from it and if planet is located in dual rasi begin counting 5th from the particular sign. In all these cases the resulting counting start sign will always be movable. It's easier to understand when we look at it with illustrations.

Illustration:
Eg say Sun is in Aries 11°35', Moon in Taurus 24°50' and Mars in Gemini 5°10' in the rasi chart.

Sun:
Classification - Movable (Aries)
Base - 1 (1st from movable sign)
Part - 4th part (Since it falls in degree span of 10°00' to 13°20')
Count - Start directly from the same movable sign Aries and count 4 which will be Cancer (1st from Aries is Aries and then 4th from it results in Cancer)

Moon
Classification - Fixed (Taurus)
Base - 9 (9th from fixed sign)
Part - 8th part (Since it falls in degree span of 23°20' to 26°40')
Count - Move 9th from respective sign of Taurus and then count 8 which will be Leo (9th from Taurus is Capricorn and then 8th from it results in Leo)

Mars
Classification - Dual (Gemini)
Base - 5 (5th from dual sign)
Part - 2nd part (Since it falls in degree span of 3°20' to 6°40')
Count - Move 5th from respective sign and then count 2 which will be Sagittarius (5th from Gemini is Libra and then 2nd from it results in Sagittarius)

Summary:
Planet in movable sign - start counting the division from the same movable sign
Planet in fixed sign - Move 9th from the fixed sign and start counting the divisions from the resulting movable sign
Planet in dual sign - Move 5th from the dual sign and start counting the divisions from the resulting movable sign

2) Element based counting:
Each of the rasis are also divided into 4 elements viz Fire, Earth, Air and Water starting from Aries onwards with the order repeating from Leo and again from Sagittarius as well. As discussed above under the classification mould, the counting will always begin from a movable sign as only then the symmetry ends up being maintained. Now we need to take a look at the movable sign for all the elements and the counting gets established from that particular sign.
Fire - Aries  (Leo and Sagittarius are ruled out as they are not movable)
Earth - Capricorn (Taurus and Virgo are ruled out as they are not movable)
Air - Libra (Gemini and Aquarius are ruled out as they are not movable)
Water - Cancer (Scorpio and Pisces are ruled out as they are not movable)
Let's look at this theory with an example

Illustration:
Eg Sun is in Leo 11°35', Moon in Capricorn 24°50',  Mars in Aquarius 5°10' and Mercury in 8°20' in the rasi chart

Sun:
Element - Fire
Start sign - Aries
Part - 4th part (Since it falls in degree span of 10°00' to 13°20')
Count - Start from Aries the fire movable sign and count 4 which will be Cancer (For Planet in fire, the counting needs to start from fire movable sign which is Aries)

Moon:
Element - Earth
Start sign - Capricorn
Part - 8th part (Since it falls in degree span of 23°20' to 26°40')
Count - Start from Capricorn the Earth movable sign and count 8 which will be Leo (For Planet in earth, the counting needs to start from earth movable sign which is Capricorn)

Mars:
Element - Air
Start sign - Libra
Part - 2nd part (Since it falls in degree span of 3°20' to 6°40')
Count - Start from Libra the Air movable sign and count 2 which will be Sagittarius (For Planet in air, the counting needs to start from air movable sign which is Libra)

Mercury:
Element - Water
Start sign - Cancer
Part - 3rd part (Since it falls in degree span of 6°40' to 10°00')
Count - Start from Cancer the Water movable sign and count 3 which will be Virgo (For Planet in water, the counting needs to start from water movable sign which is Cancer)

Summary:
Planet in Fire sign - start counting from Aries which is the fire movable sign
Planet in Earth sign - start counting from Capricorn which is the earth movable sign
Planet in Air sign - start counting from Libra which is the air movable sign
Planet in Water sign - start counting from Cancer which is the water movable sign

3) Star Based Counting:
This is a little different method and doesn't employ rasis directly and instead the constellations come into the picture. As one may be aware there are 27 Nakshatras making up the zodiac divided into 3 sets of 9 each. The first set of 9 Nakshatras Ashwini to Ashlesha run from Aries to Cancer, the second set of  9 Nakshatras Magha to Jyeshta run from Leo to Scorpio and the third set of 9 Nakshatras Moola to Revathi run from Sagittarius to Pisces. The reason these are broken into cycles of 9 Nakshatras is in essence because the subsequent Nakshatra after the 9th begins fresh in a new zodiac sign without having breaks in padas. Thus one can say it takes 4 rasis to cover one full set of 9 Nakshatra constellations. The trick here is that the first, fourth and seventh Nakshatra from each set will occupy the first 4 rasis (Aries to Cancer) with each of the 4 padas making up the rasis one after the other and likewise the second, fifth and eighth Nakshatra from each cycle will rule over the next 4 rasis (Leo to Scorpio) and in similar vein the third, sixth and ninth Nakshatra will lord the last 4 rasis (Sagittarius to Pisces). The concept will look easier when explained with an example.

Illustration:
Eg Sun is in Poorva Phalguni 17°35', Moon in Hastha 13°10',  Mars in Revathi 27°10' and Mercury in Pushya 11°20' in the rasi chart

Sun
Nakshatra - Second (2,5,8 set)
Zodiac Cycle - Leo to Scorpio
Pada - 2 (Poorva Phalguni 16°40'-20°00' is second pada)
Count - Start from Leo and count 2 which will be Virgo

Moon
Nakshatra - Fourth (1,4,7 set)
Zodiac Cycle - Aries to Cancer
Pada - 1 (Hastha 10°00'-13°20' is first pada)
Count - Start from Aries and count 1 which will be Aries

Mars
Nakshatra - Ninth (3,6,9 set)
Zodiac Cycle - Sagittarius to Pisces
Pada - 1 (Revathi 26°40'-30°00' is fourth pada)
Count - Start from Sagittarius and count 4 which will be Pisces

Mercury
Nakshatra - Eighth (2,5,8 set)
Zodiac Cycle -  Leo to Scorpio
Pada - 1 (Pushya 10°00'-13°20' is third pada)
Count - Start from Leo and count 3 which will be Libra

Summary:

Important Concepts in Navamsa:

# Vargottama
Vargottam literally means a planet occupying the same sign in both the rasi and the Navamsa and said to be auspicious as it's like a blessing because the Dharma signifies what is prevalent in the rasi chart in the Navamsa as well. From the counting mechanism it can be inferred that only in 12 cases can Vargottama even occur.

Classification based counting - 1st pada of a movable sign, 5th pada of a fixed sign and 9th pada of a dual sign
Element based counting - 1st pada of a fire sign, 5th pada of an earth sign, 9th pada of an air sign and the 1st pada of a water sign
Star based counting - In 1-4-7 cycle, Ashwini-1, Rohini -2, Punarvasu-3&4, in 2-5-8 cycle, Poorva Phalguni-1, Chitra-2, Chitra-3 and Anuradha-4, in 3-6-9 cycle, Uthara Ashada-1&2, Satabisha-3 and Revathi-4

Listed below is the set of 12 divisions of total 108 divisions (12 rasis*9parts) where a planet can end up becoming Vargotama.

Zodiac - Classification - Element - Star & Pada - Degree Span
Aries - Movable - Fire - Ashwini-1 - 00°00'-3°20'
Taurus - Fixed - Earth - Rohini-2 - 13°20'-16°40'
Gemini - Dual - Air - Punarvasu-3 - 26°40'-30°00'
Cancer - Movable - Water - Punarvasu-4 - 00°00'-3°20'
Leo - Movable - Fire - Poorva Phalguni-1 - 13°20'-16°40'
Virgo - Fixed - Earth - Chitra-2- 26°40'-30°00'
Libra - Dual - Air - Chitra-3 - 00°00'-3°20'
Scorpio - Movable - Water - Anuradha-4 - 13°20'-16°40'
Sagittarius - Movable - Fire - Uthara Ashada-1 - 26°40'-30°00'
Capricorn - Fixed - Earth - Uthara Ashada-2 - 00°00'-3°20'
Aquarius - Dual - Air - Satabisha-3 - 13°20'-16°40'
Pisces - Movable - Water - Revathi-4 - 26°40'-30°00'

As you can see there is only one portion in each sign which gets the fiefdom of being Vargotama and only 9 stars out of 27 having this privilege with 3 of them having 2 of their padas becoming Vargotama viz Punarvasu, Chitra and Uthara Ashada.

# Pushkara Navamsa and Pushkara Bhaga
The Pushkara Navamsa is a specific portion in every rasi which is said to be extremely beneficial. Unlike the Vargotama which contains one division in every sign, in Pushkara Navamsa there are two special divisions of  3°20' which is said to be highly auspicious. It happens to be the 7th and 9th division in fire element signs, 3rd and 5th division in earth element signs, 6th and 8th division in air element signs and 1st and 3rd in water element signs. On top of this there is one particular degree that carries optimal strength to enhance the signification even more which is called Pushkara Bhaga which falls as one degree within the designated degree span allotted for each of the sign elements. Here there is only one degree per sign and happens to be the 21st degree for fire element signs, 14th degree for earth element signs, 24th degree for air element signs and 7th degree for water element signs.

Counting Base:
Fire Element Sign - 7th & 9th division - Libra & Sagittarius Navamsa. Pushkara Bhaga is 21st degree
Earth Element Sign - 3rd & 5th division - Pisces & Taurus Navamsa. Pushkara Bhaga is 14th degree
Air Element Sign - 6th & 8th division - Pisces & Taurus Navamsa. Pushkara Bhaga is 24th degree
Water Element Sign - 1st & 3rd division - Cancer & Virgo Navamsa. Pushkara Bhaga is 7th degree

Zodiac - Sign - Element - Star & Pada - Degree Span
Aries - Movable - Fire - Bharani-3 - 20°00'-23°20'
Aries - Movable - Fire - Krithika-1 - 26°40'-30°00'
Taurus - Fixed - Earth - Krithika-4 - 6°40'-10°00'
Taurus - Fixed - Earth - Rohini-2 - 13°20'-16°40'
Gemini - Dual - Air - Arudra-4 - 16°40'-20°00'
Gemini - Dual - Air - Punarvasu-2 - 23°20'-26°40'
Cancer - Movable - Water - Punarvasu-4 - 00°00'-3°20'
Cancer - Movable - Water - Pushya-2 - 06°40'-10°00'
Leo - Movable - Fire - Poorva Phalguni-3 - 20°00'-23°20'

Libra - Dual - Air - Vishakha-2 - 23°20'-26°40'
Scorpio - Movable - Water - Vishakha-4 - 00°00'-3°20'
Scorpio - Movable - Water - Anuradha-2 - 06°40'-10°00'
Sagittarius - Movable - Fire - Poorva Ashada-3 - 20°00'-23°20'
Sagittarius - Movable - Fire - Uthara Ashada-1 - 26°40'-30°00'
Capricorn - Fixed - Earth - Uthara Ashada-4 - 06°40'-10°00'
Capricorn - Fixed - Earth - Shravana-2 - 13°20'-16°40'
Aquarius - Dual - Air - Satabisha-4 - 16°40'-20°00'
Aquarius - Dual - Air - Poorva Bhadra-2 - 23°20'-26°40'
Pisces - Movable - Water - Poorva Bhadra-4 - 00°00'-3°20'
Pisces - Movable - Water - Uthara Bhadra-2 - 23°20'-26°40'

Note: You would observe 12 Vargottama and 24 Pushkara Navamsa but within this you would find 3 divisions overlapping with each other and these are very powerful and auspicious as they happen to be both Vargottama and in Pushkara Navamsa. The respective constellations happen to be Rohini-2, Punarvasu-4 and Uthara Ashada-1

# 64th Navamsa
This is a very sensitive division in the Navamsa and is used to associate mainly negative events with regard to a horoscope. There are also other navamsa parts such as 55th, 88th etc but the 64th is the one which is considered to be really prominent. The 64th Navamsa and the 22nd Drekkana are crucial trigger points witnessed in a horoscope.

As the number 64 connotes it happens to be the 64th part taken from both Lagna and Moon. As we know there are 9 parts in a Navamsa and hence when we cross the 63rd part, 7 houses will be passed (9*7) and the first part of the 8th house will be the 64th Navamsa. There are two ways to calculate it both from the Rasi chart (cumbersome) as well as the Navamsa chart (easy). I shall explain with an example on both these methodologies.

Illustration:
Let us say we need to calculate the 64th Navamsa from Lagna and the Lagna degree is 18°30' in Gemini sign.

Rasi method: First we need to ascertain the division of the Lagna degree which happens to be the 6th division since 18°30' falls within the range of 16°40'-20°00'. Then we need to jump straight to the 8th house or 210th degree from where the Lagna is placed in Gemini which will end up being 18°30' in Capricorn sign. As the 6th division in a movable earthy sign will fall in Gemini, the lord of Gemini which is Mercury will end up becoming the 64th Navamsa, For instance if the Lagna degree happened to be 21°30' then it would end up falling in Cancer and Moon will be the 64th Navamsa.

Navamsa Method: Just look at the 4th sign from the Navamsa Lagna and the ruler of that house will be the 64th Navamsa. In our above example Lagna degree falling in 18°30' in Gemini will appear as Pisces Lagna in Navamsa. The 4th from Pisces is Gemini and the ruler is Mercury and hence he is the 64th Navamsa. The reason this method works like this is because each portion of 3°20' occupies a sign and hence it takes 12 parts of 3°20' to completes one zodiac cycle and hence similarly is the case with multiples of 12 such as 24th, 36th, 48th and 60th part. We return back to the Lagna for the 61st part, 2nd house becomes the 62nd, 3rd house is the 63rd part and finally the the 4th house from Navamsa Lagna ends up becoming the 64th Navamsa.

# Rasi Tulya Navamsa and Navamsa Tulya Rasi
This is a concept of super imposing and reading a chart. The Rasi Tulya Navamsa works on the placements of planets in the Navamsa chart but read from the Rasi  Lagna whereas the Navamsa Tulya Rasi is mainly used in transits where a major planet is said to influence a planet not only situated in the rasi but also placed in the Navamsa. A simple way to illustrate with an example of Rasi Tulya Navamsa is lets say your Rasi Lagna is Gemini whereas your Navamsa Lagna is Pisces and for understanding purpose let's presume that Venus is placed in the 2nd house in Aries in Navamsa. We read the same placement of Venus in Aries but by an alternate method of utilizing the Rasi Lagna which in this case in Gemini and hence Venus will be viewed as being in the 11th house. I believe assessing placements of planets through this methodology gives clues on the kind of results to expect.

Important Note:
We know that there are 12 zodiac signs consisting of 30° each and every sign covers a span of 9 divisions of 3°20' each and hence it takes only 9 zodiac signs in the Navamsa to cover the distance in one rasi making 3 rasis in Navamsa blank. It should be known for instance that a planet situated in whichever degree in Aries sign will never fall in the signs of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Likewise each zodiac sign in the rasi will ensure that 3 zodiac signs in the Navamsa gets untouched. Sharing below the list of signs in each zodiac sign where the Navamsa signs never end up falling

Aries - Navamsas of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces remain untouched
Taurus - Navamsas of Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius remain untouched
Gemini - Navamsas of Cancer, Leo and Virgo remain untouched
Cancer - Navamsas of Aries, Taurus and Gemini remain untouched
Leo - Navamsas of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces remain untouched
Virgo - Navamsas of Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius remain untouched
Libra - Navamsas of Cancer, Leo and Virgo remain untouched
Scorpio - Navamsas of Aries, Taurus and Gemini remain untouched
Sagittarius - Navamsas of Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces remain untouched
Capricorn - Navamsas of Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius remain untouched
Aquarius - Navamsas of Cancer, Leo and Virgo remain untouched
Pisces - Navamsas of Aries, Taurus and Gemini remain untouched

Time Technique of Pancha Pakshi Shastra!

Pancha Pakshi is a technique used to ascertain a good time period for performing an activity. It is an ancient Tamil technique and said to be very powerful when used efficiently. The shastra of Pancha Pakshi deals with a number of things such as lucky directions, colours, name syllables etc but largely used for understanding favorable times for an individual to perform important tasks.

Pancha Pakshi makes use of 3 elements of the Panchang viz Vara, Nakshatra and Tithi. These three hold high prominence in the methodology of Pancha Pakshi Shastra. The concept on an overall framework works based on a bird assigned to each individual depending on the birth star one is born and this associated bird is supposed to give good and bad results on specific days (Vara) and Tithi based on whether the moon is operating in a waxing cycle or waning cycle.

There are 5 birds utilized in the Pancha Pakshi Shastra viz Vulture, Owl, Crow, Cock and Peacock. All these birds engage in different activities such as Rule, Walk, Eat, Sleep and Die. The birds are said to be most active in ruling state and most weakest in their dying state. Each day and night of 12 hours each (30 Nazhika) are divided into five equal portions called Yaama of 2 hours and 24 minutes each (6 Nazhika) and allotted to different activities of the birds. Please remember day time begins from sunrise to sunset and night time begins from sunset to next day sunrise. If the distance between sunrise to sunset or sunset to next day sunrise happens to be a little over or less than 12 hours, that needs to be factored as well to ensure that both day and night portion are equally split into 5 portions and allotted to all the 5 birds.

Method to know Pancha Pakshi:
First you need to know the bird which you are ruled by and for this one of the methods is by simply knowing your Birth Nakshatra. Each bird is mapped to a set of Nakshatras and based on that you can figure out which bird you belong to. The order of birds synced with Nakshatras is as inscribed below:

Vulture : Ashwini, Bharani, Kritika, Rohini, Mrigashira (1 to 5 Nakshatras)
Owl : Arudra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Aaslesha,  Magha, Purva Phalguni (6 to 11 Nakshatras)
Crow : Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha (12 to 16 Nakshatras)
Cock : Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Moola, Poorvaashadha, Uttaraashadha, Shravana (17 to 22 Nakshatras)
Peacock : Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadra, Uttara Bhadra, Revathi (23 to 27 Nakshatras)

There is another opinion that the order of the birds are reversed based on whether you were born in waxing phase or waning phase. For instance let's say someone were to be born in Magha Nakshatra in Shukla Paksha. In this case Owl will be the Pakshi or bird assigned. However if the native was born in same Magha Nakshatra but in the waning half or Krishna Paksha, then Cock is said to be assigned as the Bird order is said to be reversed. There is never really a consensus on this and hence this note is documented here as a piece of information

However the more correct approach of determining one's bird would be based on one's actual Date, Place and Time of Birth. This will be explained below by means of an illustration along with the concept.

Ruling Days and Death Days:
As per the shastra of Pancha Pakshi, each of the birds rule a particular day and night depending on waxing and waning cycles of the moon and also happen to be in a dying state based on an entire day from sunrise to next day sunrise also with respect to the waxing and waning cycles of the moon. For instance Vulture rules Day time during waxing phase on a Tuesday whereas it rules night time on a Friday in the waxing phase. Likewise you can figure out that Owl is in a death state during the whole of Monday both during day time and night time in the waning phase. The table below lists the days of the week along with the ruling period as well as dying period for each of the birds both in waxing as well as waning state.
Bird Sequence and Order of Activities:
As indicated earlier, each bird performs an activity for 2 hours and 24 minutes (1 Yama or 6 Nazhikas) and has 5 activities to perform which totals 12 hours during day time and 12 hours during night time. Let us say, the day is a Sunday day time and moon is in the waxing state. The ruling bird for the day time on Sunday during the waxing phase happens to be Vulture. Now within this day time of 12 hours, each bird will perform different activities for 144 minutes or 2 hours and 24 minutes. For eg if the sunrise starts at 6AM on Sunday, Vulture will be in eating state from 6.00 AM to 8:24 AM, walking state from 8.24 AM to 10.48 AM, ruling state from 10.48 AM to 13:12 PM, sleeping state from 13:12 PM to 15:36 PM and in dying state from 15:36 PM to 18:00 PM. Every other bird will also be engaged in different activities for 144 minutes within the same time frame. Also within this time frame of 144 minutes or 2 hrs 24 minutes there are sub periods of activities taking place of sub birds within the main bird. To explain, we know that the Vulture is in eating state from 6.00 AM to 8:24 AM in a day time on Sunday during the waxing phase. Within this 144 minutes there are sub activities of all the 5 birds split up starting from the main bird such as to say Vulture eats from 6.00 AM to 6:30 AM, Owl walks from 6:30 AM to 7:06 AM, Crow rules from 7:06 AM to 7:54 AM, Cock sleeps from 7:54 AM to 8:12 AM and Peacock dies from 8:12 AM to 8:24 AM. These sub periods are made to ascertain the relationship of the main bird with other birds and to divide time at a deeper intricate level. The information below explains the sequence of birds along with the split of the sub bird activities which are broken into different time periods (minutes) or Nazhikas.

SEQUENCE BEGINNING FROM RULING BIRD
DAY TIME WAXING : VULTURE->OWL->CROW->COCK->PEACOCK
NIGHT TIME WAXING : VULTURE->PEACOCK->COCK->CROW->OWL
DAY TIME WANING : VULTURE->CROW->PEACOCK->OWL->COCK
NIGHT TIME WANING : VULTURE->COCK->OWL->PEACOCK>CROW

ORDER OF ACTIVITY IN EACH YAMA
DAY TIME WAXING : EAT 30-WALK 36-RULE 48-SLEEP 18-DEATH 12
NIGHT TIME WAXING : EAT 30-RULE 48-DEATH 12-WALK 36-SLEEP 18
DAY TIME WANING : EAT 30-DEATH 12-SLEEP 18-RULE 48-WALK 36
NIGHT TIME WANING : EAT 30-SLEEP 18-WALK 36-DEATH 12-RULE 48

Illustration:
Let's say an individual is born on Thursday at day time 7:30 AM in the Nakshatra constellation of Jyeshta during the Waning Phase. Let's presume that the sun rise time is at 6:00 AM and sunset is at 6:00 PM. First we need to find out the bird for this gentleman based on the sequence of birds and activities mentioned. The Day is Thursday Day Time and Moon is in the Waning Phase. Hence we first need to have this information handy.
BIRD - DAY TIME WANING : VULTURE->CROW->PEACOCK->OWL->COCK
ACTIVITY - DAY TIME WANING : EAT 30-DEATH 12-SLEEP 18-RULE 48-WALK 36

We know that on a Thursday during day time in Krishna Paksha, the Owl happens to be the ruling bird from the table above. Since one Yama runs for 2 hours and 24 minutes and this person was born at 7.30 AM which is just 1 and half hours after Sunrise, it can be understood that he was born during the first Yama. The order of birds always start from the ruling bird and hence within this 2 hours 24 minutes comprising of first Yama, Owl will eat for 30 minutes from 6.00 AM to 6.30 AM, Cock will die from 6.30 AM to 6.42 AM, Vulture will sleep from 6.42 AM to 7.00 AM, Crow will rule from 7.00 AM to 7.48 AM and Peacock will walk from 7.48 AM to 8.24 AM. Since the person was born at 7:30 AM, it was during the time Crow was performing it's activity and hence Crow will be his actual bird. As per the Nakshatra constellation of Jyeshta he would be assigned Cock bird or even owl bird if bird order gets reversed for Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. This doesn't seem so appropriate and hence the bird based on actual time of taking birth seems more relevant.

Utilizing Time of Pancha Pakshi:
Since the person comes under Crow bird, we will be concerned about the activities and sub activities only of the Crow. Hence the ideal time which should be sought for performing important activities should be on those days when Crow is in a powerful ruling state. We find that during Shukla Paksha in day time it rules on a Thursday and in night time it rules both on Sunday and Tuesday. Similarly in Krishna Paksha, in day time it rules on a Wednesday and in night time it rules Thursday. Hence these periods of approximately 12 hours depending on whether day time or night time is powerful for crow bird native to perform important tasks. Within this time, the sub-periods also can be factored in to find those fragments of time when it's most powerful. Also since the three elements of Vara, Tithi and Nakshatra are used in Pancha Pakshi, it tends to be even more robust when the respective Tithi and Nakshatra are operating on the particular ruling day of the week be it for Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha irrespective of day time or night time. The Tithis are 15 in number in both waxing and waning half with 1/6/11 Tithi classified as Nandha, 2/7/12 known as Bhadra, 3/8/13 grouped as Jaya, 4/9/14 called Rikhta and 5/10/15 termed as Purna. The Nakshatras are 27 in number with the cycle beginning from 1st Nakshatra known as Ashwini and ending with 27th Nakshatra titled Revathi.
There are also relationships provided of each bird with another and these periods can also be utilized based on the friendship it possesses with one another.
WAXING MOON:
Vulture: Friends - Peacock & Owl, Enemies - Crow & Cock
Owl: Friends - Vulture & Crow, Enemies - Cock & Peacock
Crow: Friends - Owl & Cock, Enemies - Peacock & Vulture
Cock: Friends - Crow & Peacock, Enemies - Vulture & Owl
Peacock: Friends - Cock & Vulture, Enemies - Owl & Crow

WANING MOON:
Vulture: Friends - Crow & Peacock, Enemies - Owl & Cock
Owl: Friends - Crow & Cock, Enemies - Vulture & Peacock
Crow: Friends - Vulture & Owl, Enemies - Cock & Peacock
Cock: Friends - Crow & Peacock, Enemies - Vulture & Owl
Peacock: Friends - Cock & Vulture, Enemies - Owl & Crow

Conclusion:
As you can see the whole computation appears a bit complicated. It gets very dicey especially when breaking the puzzle into minute fragments of time intervals and establishing the relation of the sub bird with the main bird. It is definitely a difficult procedure to lay down times for each and every sub atomic level of time. It's surely not helpful for repetitive mundane tasks as getting a hands on of the computation itself will end up taking a long period of time but on an overall framework it can be pretty useful especially when you know the day and night time ruled by your bird and also the deathly state it gets into on specific days. This can help you take well calculated decisions on days favorable to you.

Note: On researching about this topic, I did find some discrepancies in the explanation of some of the definitions. For instance one school of thought does not believe in considering waxing and waning phase when ascertaining the pakshi whereas the other school believes that the bird changes based on whether one is born in Waxing or waning phase. There were also some confusions on whether Shravana star should belong to Cock or Peacock as per Nakshatra scheme of finding bird. I went with the former but still the issue remains unsorted due to various diversions. Also with regard to sub time periods as well as order of birds ruling night time especially there appears to be some issues because it appears misleading that a bird can be both in ruling state at night time and also deathly state during the whole day. These prevailing issues cause some unnecessary distortions for which nobody really knows what the truth is. It is good to know about this technique but the employment of it in practice may involve lots of trials and errors coupled with experience and research especially due to the prevailing confusions associated with respect to this topic.
