South Africa's redemption and date with destiny!

South Africa have perennially been the most unluckiest team when it comes to the sport of cricket. They have produced absolute genius cricketers across their rich history but when it came to world cricket tournaments, luck always deserted them. Due to apartheid, they were cut off from the cricketing fraternity for decades together deeming them not being able to participate in any of the first 4 ODI World Cups held in 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1987. Their casting away from the game also meant that few of their hallmark cricketers such as the Pollock brothers Peter & Graeme, opening batsman Barry Richards, all rounder Mike Procter and a slew of others got limited opportunities to represent the Rainbow nation and showcase their prowess on the global stage.

Once South Africa made their way back into the cricketing circle from 1991 onwards, ill luck has hit them constantly like a plague which just seemed unrelenting. It was almost a case of 'oh so near yet so far' every time that it felt like a farce with them repeatedly failing towards the final hurdle come what may. Also some of the consequences made it feel like as if there was an almighty's curse hanging on around this nation for eternity. This was however not resonated in the other sport which South Africa is passionate about viz Rugby where they were able to reel off 4 World Cup titles in which they always used to have that extra ammunition to win those major titles. The killer instinct and that lady luck was more prevalent with the Rugby team and an ample example of that was them winning the 2023 Rugby World Cup Quarter finals, Semi finals and Final all by a solitary point.

When it came to cricket, since their readmission, they have been one of the most consistent teams but without any result to show of. Apart from spells of bad luck, they've had a tough time dealing with their arch enemies from the Southern Hemisphere Australia especially and New Zealand to some extent when it came to knockout clashes. In every alternate ODI World Cup from the time they started participating viz 1992, 1999, 2007, 2015 and 2023, the Proteas were undone in the semifinals with luck also playing foil against them.

When it came to ODI World Cups, they had a sterling display in their very first major tournament viz the 1992 ODI World Cup held in Australia & New Zealand. In their semifinal encounter, they were robbed off against England when a despicable rain rule put paid to them going further in their frontier. With 22 required off 13 deliveries, rain intervention revised it to 22 off 7 and then finally 22 off 1 delivery which meant South Africa's stellar progress ended in a rather dubious and wretched way. This streak of bad luck that got implanted in 1992 just continued on and on across years and decades. In the 1996 ODI WC, they had an unblemished record winning all 5 games convincingly in the group stage only to play the lowest ranked side from the other group West Indies with Brian Lara scoring a brilliant century and knocking them out of the WC in the only match which they lost.

1999 was the most hurting as they again had a seriously amazing campaign and went out on a tied encounter with the Aussies in the semifinals. They had the match in the grasp but unfortunate turn of events made them fall short in their progress yet again. The 2003 home ODI WC was a bitterly disappointing experience for them with rain again playing havoc and a wrong reading of the rules making them exit the tournament much to the chagrin of the home fans who were shattered no end. There was a misreading of the DLS par score which the Proteas thought was the winning score only to be later told that they ended up one run short marking a shocking exit from the tournament in the group stages.

The 2007 WC in the Caribbean again saw them through in their passage to the semifinals setting up a mouth watering clash with their hardcore rivals Aussies who were instrumental in knocking them out from the 1999 WC. It was a chance to avenge revenge but alas it was not meant to be as an invincible Australian side was just too strong on that day. In 2011 South Africa were the only side to defeat eventual World Cup champions India but came a cropper against the Kiwis in spin friendly conditions despite not having to chase a major total in the quarter final stage.

When it finally looked like the moment of reckoning was going to be fulfilled, South Africa were knocked out in the semifinals of the 2015 ODI WC in a clash of the ages against the hosts Kiwis. It was shell shocking to see their 2 marquee men Dale Steyn and AB Devilliers crestfallen no end. Here again it was a rain curtailed match which somehow played in the hands of the Kiwis. One would reckon that a full 50 over game could have had a different result but that's the way it is with luck and South Africa always going in polar directions. The 2019 ODI WC was a rebuilding phase with many of their senior pros not being part of the squad and it ended in a dismaying outcome where they couldn't qualify to the semifinals. This was probably the only ODI WC where South Africa were nowhere near coming close to being champions.

The 2023 ODI WC saw a familiar story unfolding. After a creditable run in the group stages, they set up a clash with the Aussies in the semifinals who they were facing for a third time at this phase. When questions were asked whether South Africa would be third time lucky, the same hoodoo transpired yet again. It was a double whammy as they not only lost to Australia their perennial rivals but also to rain with weather playing spoilsport as always is the case with them. Kolkata was in the midst of cold hazy climate with ball swinging in all directions and the Aussies exploited the early advantage by scalping quick wickets and putting the Saffers on the mat. Despite defending a low score, South Africa fought hard and made a meat of it but again it was the grit and resolve of Australia who are always known to be exceptional in such stages that managed to win a closely fought low scoring chase.

Apart from the ODI World Cup, this pandemic hex was evident in the T20 World Cup as well albeit not to the same extent in terms of foiled attempts. In the 2009 T20 WC, South Africa came in as firm favourites winning all their games setting up a semi final shootout with Pakistan. In a closely contested game, the Saffers lost out eventually falling short by 7 runs. The 2014 T20 WC semifinal saw them being gunned down by India courtesy largely a Virat Kohli chasing masterclass. The indisputable crowning choking moment was reserved for the T20 World Cup final of 2024. South Africa who were always vary when it came to knockouts and especially semifinals finally got a shot to play their first ever World cup final with their opponents being India. Chasing a target set of 176, South Africa were well on course and firmly placed to win with just a run a ball 30 to get off the last 5 overs which in general parlance of a T20 format or any version whatsoever is a walk in the park. But they bottled it up by choking at the most inopportune time with just 26 required off the last 4 overs. It was a fightback of epic proportions by India and South Africa's worst fears came compounding drastically as they lost this final title clash by a mere 7 runs. All those history of bad luck got accentuated and this almost felt like a God sent message that South Africa can just forever bid goodbye to winning a world title. It was just too hard to digest the pain for a South African supporter after all the years of extreme disappointments notwithstanding. South Africa's only triumph remained the title won in the inaugural ICC Champions trophy held 27 years back in 1998. At that time it was christened as the ICC Knockout. Since then 27 years have passed with no major world title of repute.

And then when it all felt lost, finally the moment of reckoning culminated and got conquered on 14th June 2025. It was the 3rd World Test Championship and it was the first time that the Proteas managed to reach the finals. The format of this test cycle has been questioned and debated a lot but South Africa did no wrong in managing to reach the final across 2 years of competing with 8 other teams in the competition. And guess what their final title rival was yet again Australia who have been their nemesis on multiple occasions across decades. This was seen as a David vs Goliath battle with Australia red hot favourites to lift the WTC title for a second time running. All of South Africa's heartbreaks with Australia have always come in the semifinals having lost the ODI WC of 1999, 2007 and 2023. In 2015 when an impending ODI WC final looked like looming large between Aus vs SA, the Kiwis came in the way and averted it. Thus for the first time, South Africa got to play Australia in a final but having known Australia's daunting record in finals and also their hegemony at Lords having hardly lost a test match there over the last century, it seemed too hard an ask to even expect for the Proteas to topple the men adorning the Baggy Green. Over the last 25 years dating back to 1999, Australia had won 9 of their 10 finals adding 5 ODI WCs (1999,2003,2007,2015,2023), 2 CT (2006,2009), a T20 WC (2021) and defending champions of WTC (2023). Their only defeat in the final over this period was to England in the 2010 T20 WC.

South Africa however finally managed to have their slice of history which they had been waiting with bated breadth for 27 years. The Proteas eventually won a World cricket title after years of agony and pain. It came in the most purest form of Test cricket deeming it extra special. To add to the touch of magic was that it was against their greatest cricketing rivals Australia who have been one of the major adversaries in South Africa being traumatised down the years especially in global ICC events. Another tinge of icing was the fact that the weather for once actually saved them by enabling to bat on a Day 3 Lords pitch which had eased out with the sun shining leading to perfect batting conditions. It was however not all hunky dory as South Africa were shot out for a paltry score in the first innings conceding a good enough lead of 80 runs to the Aussies. In the second innings, with Australia reeling at 73/7, South Africa's perpetual woes of not closing out things came to haunt with the lower order contributing over 130 runs setting up a competitive target of 282 runs.

It was however South Africa's moment in the sun having gutted out and putting a performance of fine calibre shunting out the Aussie bowlers by having a remarkable Day 3. The resolute partnership between centurion Aiden Markram and captain Temba Bavuma blunted out the Aussies from making any sort of comeback. And when the final runs were scored, it sparked off a sea of celebration with an air of excitement that was palpable. South Africa had finally achieved their pinnacle moment of winning a World Championship for the first time ever in their storied cricketing legacy. It was also their first global ICC tournament victory which had come after 27 years in 1998.

South Africa's cricketing journey in the global stage is punctuated with acrimony aplenty with them being labelled as everlasting chokers. Two of their defining disheartening defeats came in the month of June, one being a year earlier to India in the 2024 T20 WC and the other being almost 26 years to the day in that epic semifinal showdown against Australia at Edgbaston in the ODI WC 1999. This victory ironically was also achieved in the meritorious month of June making the bitterness of the past deliciously extra sweet. This has been a long time coming and they deserve to cherish and celebrate every bit of this momentous occasion that will be etched in South African cricketing folklore. This win by South Africa is a story of redemption and hope for what the country has gone through all these years and it's befitting that they finally marked their date with destiny.

Information and Results pertaining to different Tithis of Panchanga

Tithi - A Limb of Panchanga
A Tithi happens to be one of the core elements of the five limbed Panchanga. A Tithi occurs based on the angular distance that is created between the Sun & Moon as they revolve around the zodiac belt of 360°. Every 12 degrees of movement by the Moon away from the Sun gives rise to a Tithi and hence there are 30 Tithis (360°/12) in total with 15 being part of the brighter half or what is known as Shukla Paksha and the latter 15 being part of the darker half or Krishna Paksha. For counting purposes we normally consider it like there are 15 Tithis in total much like there are 7 Varas, 27 Nakshatras, 27 Yogas and 11 Karanas.

Tithi and Prosperity
It is said that Knowledge of Tithi brings prosperity. There is also the popular saying stating 'Tithiyai Pidicha Vidhiyai Vellalam' which translates as one who catches hold of their Tithi can even conquer their destiny. Hence Tithi has a very important hold with regard to a Horoscope and is much more than just being used for Muhurtha purposes or celebrating the auspicious events of deities such as Krishna Ashtami or Rama Navami etc.

Tithi and Destiny
It is also believed that Tithi is inherently connected to one's past life and the Tithi one is born with is correlated with the paava punyam or merits / sins from previous birth and accordingly the Tithi is the one that determines the destiny for an individual in this lifetime. Each of the Tithis barring the 15th Tithi of Pournima/Ammavasya are impacted by 2 or more Rasis being cursed leaning to the concept of Tithi Shoonya or Daghda Rasi which indicates certain dark spots in a particular area for an individual horoscope. However there is a saying that only one out of two rasis gets the tag of shoonya rasi (except Chaturdashi Tithi where 2 out of 4 get impacted) based on whether birth takes place in brighter half or darker half. The general understanding is that the first rasi becomes shoonya as per Kala Purusha order for a Shukla Paksha birth and the second rasi becomes shoonya as per Kala Purusha order for a Krishna Paksha birth. This holds good in most cases except for Tithis 3,4 and 7. Apart from Tithi Shoonya Rasis, there are also cases of Lagnas (Ascendant), Nakshatras (Asterism) and Masa (Lunar month) which become Shoonya when arising with certain Tithis which are dispensed below. These concepts are largely used for purpose of fixing Muhurthas.

Tithi Deities
Each of the Tithis also happen to be ruled by a particular deity apart from a Devi assigned to each of them yearning towards prosperity. It is believed that offering prayers to the Nitya Devi linked to the Tithi in which one attains birth helps in granting wealth and prosperity. There is also a type of Ganapathi or Lord Ganesh associated with each of the Tithis and worship of the said type of Ganapathi helps in removing obstacles.

Tithi and the Venus Connection
Tithi mainly connotes the Tamil words 'Selvam' and 'Magizhchi' which is all about happiness, pleasures, delights, earning wealth and desiring prosperity. Since all these undertakings generally come within the ambit of Venusian qualities, a Tithi broadly is said to be under the control of the planet Venus and ruled by the water element.

Tithi - Benefic and Malefic
In general parlance as per Sage Parashara, Moon is classified as Natural Benefic or Natural Malefic based on whether it is under waxing phase (Shukla Paksha) or waning phase (Krishna Paksha) respectively. There are some authorities however stating that Moon is beneficial after it crosses a specific Tithi in the second half of the brighter phase and continues to be favorable till around the mid of the darker phase where it again becomes malefic as it reaches towards Ammavasya and even beyond that into the first half of the brighter phase as Moon is still in rather close conjunction with the Sun. However when it comes to auspiciousness of Tithi, it is categorized into Auspicious, Mixed and Inauspicious based on its proximity with the Sun.

Tithi Groupings
Tithis are also categorised into 5 kind of groupings viz Nanda, Bhadra, Jaya, Rikta and Poorna as per the text 'Kalaprakasika'. The groupings resonate with a particular planet based on the meaning of the terms. This however should not be construed as if the Tithi is lorded by the particular planet but more in line with a group of Tithis relating to the characteristic of a particular planet.

Nanda - 1st, 6th and 11th Tithi. Ruler Venus. Denotes joyousness and happiness
Bhadra - 2nd, 7th and 12th Tithi. Ruler Mercury. Denotes fortune and health
Jaya - 3rd, 8th and 13th Tithi. Ruler Mars. Denotes victory and triumph
Rikta - 4th, 9th and 14th Tithi. Ruler Saturn. Denotes loss and emptiness
Poorna - 5th, 10th and 15th. Ruler Jupiter. Denotes fulfillment and completeness

The Rikta Tithis in general are said to be inauspicious for any important work to be carried out and is best said to be avoided whereas the Poorna Tithis are apt for performing any religious ceremonies. Nanda Tithis invoke sense of pleasure, Bhadra is said to be friendly and Jaya competitive. Hence Tithis for an activity can be used accordingly based on the grouping. It is also said that if a Tithi and it's grouping ruler lord happens to coincide on the particular weekday or Vara, it is said to be auspicious for instance Nanda Tithi & Friday, Bhadra Tithi & Wednesday, Jaya Tithi & Tuesday, Rikta Tithi & Saturday and Poorna Tithi & Thursday.

Tithi Specifics
Kalaprakasika also categorises Tithis based on its orientation with Sunrise as seen below:

Tithi Kshaya - If a Tithi originates after the occurence of Sunrise and finishes before the start of the sunrise in the next day, it is known as Tithi Kshaya. This means that on two consecutive days of sunrise, the Tithi isn't present and denotes a decrease. Such a Tithi is said to be inauspicious and is better if one avoids performing any tasks during such a period of time.

Tithi Adhi or Tithi Vridhi - If a Tithi originates before the occurence of Sunrise and finishes only after the start of the sunrise in the next day, it is known as Tithi Vridhi. Here the Tithi is present on two consecutive days of sunrise and said to connote an increase. This is also not suitable and it is said to avoid any favorable tasks during this period of time.

Tithi Gandanta - The one last Gatika of a Poorna Tithi and the first one Gatika of a Nanda Tithi is said to denote Tithi Gandanta. It is generally better to avoid any activity during this period.

Tithi Lordship
There aren't many texts that talk about the Lordship of each of the Tithis. There is a view of following Tithi Lordship based on the weekday order such as assigning the first Tithi to Sun, second Tithi to Moon and so on till the 7th Tithi to Saturn and then 8th to Rahu and then back again with Sun ruling the 9th Tithi and then the 15th Tithi of bright half provided to Saturn and 15th of darker half given to Rahu. This methodology however does not have any sage backing.

The only Ancient text which makes a reference to Lordship of Tithis happens to be the Kerala treatise on Horary Astrology titled 'Krishneeyam' by Shree Krishna Acharya. This book has clearly delineated the rulership planet for each of the Tithis which are dispensed below. There is no exact methodology of how exactly the Tithi Lord needs to be used in a horoscope but since Tithi in essence is all about significations such as Pleasures, Desires, Relationships, Passion, Happiness, Wealth etc it makes sense to see where the Tithi Lord is placed and the house(s) it owns to approximately come to a judgement on the interest towards these matters. It will also be preferable if the Tithi Lord itself doesn't end up getting placed in a Tithi Shoonya Rasi.

Note: Hindu festivals are largely decoded based on the Tithi in operation. The Christian festivals are more aligned to a specific day or date such as Christman always arising on December 25th, New Year's on Jan 1st etc. Muslim festivals on the other hand are largely based on Moon sighting and not observance of a particular Tithi as most Hindu festivals but they more or less have a correlation as Moon's phases originate as part of Tithi. It would be quite interesting to note that Ramadan always commences around Shukla Paksha Dwitiya Tithi based on the viewing of crescent moon and Eid on Shukla Paksha Dwitiya Tithi in the following lunar month. Muslims are known to fast and offer obeisance to God for Ramadan during the entire month and Eid marks the end of the Islamic holy month fasting of Ramadan. Another of their festival, Bakrid happens around Shukla Paksha Dashami in the lunar month of Ashada.

Numerology and its connection with Astrology

There are so many forms of prognosis for decoding future events and in that Astrology in a prime way reigns supreme. Not only does it have Sages backing going back in time centuries ago with ancient scriptures written about the various aspects of planetary influences and how the cosmic energies play a dominant role in one's life but it also has rules that are time tested and still tend to hold good to this day when used in the rightful manner. It is also a comprehensive study with plenty of guidelines to take care of and involves numerous permutations & combinations that tests the skills and judgement of a competent astrologer in using it in the most judicial manner to extract the best results possible. When most things become difficult to comprehend, intuitive abilities come to fore in delivering the results.

The history of astrology dates eons back and is closely linked with its partner Astronomy. It could perhaps be said that Astrology has been in existence from the time nature has been prevalent. It dates back to the times of the kings and plenty of mythological treatises attribute the role of Astrology in some way or other either directly or indirectly.

Astrology is however not the only tool for decoding events. There have been a number of off shoots born out of astrology itself as well as there have been different mechanisms to figure out the destiny and life path of different entities. One other form of science happens to be Numerology which is an interplay of numbers and draws interpretation from numerous patterns pertaining to Numbers. The fundamental belief with respect to Numerology is that every event that occurs has a symbolic or mystical relation with a Number or pattern of figures or an associated element such as an alphabet. Numerology isn't as widespread as Astrology at least with respect to the combinations and plethora of rules and interpretations available but still has it's own relevance and significance. It is also fairly simpler to use as opposed to Astrology especially because of its vastness being limited in scope.

One thing however to note between Astrology and Numerology is the numbers 12 and 9 respectively. Though Vedic Astrology as such uses 9 planets, the results are largely based on the house system which is 12 in number. An astrological diagram has 12 boxes and one's entire life history is slotted into 12 areas of life which includes the past, present and the future. The results for the 12 houses are however influenced in a major way by the 9 planets present and transiting within these 12 areas of life. There are however other divisions of a 12 house horoscope but however they are all derivations from the main horoscope and not arrived at entirely stand alone.

However when it comes to Numerology, it's the number 9 that takes chief precedence. Everything harbingers around the #9 and even numbers that exceed 9 are invariably added back and linked with the number 9. So in essence we can surmise that in a panoptic overview Astrology results broadly revolve around the number 12 and Numerology pigeonholes around the number 9. The multiple of these two happen to be 108 which happens to be an extremely significant number in a lot of ways with respect to Hindu Mythology.

Let us now look at some of the popular methods of Numerology and further see how it gets linked to Astrology. In Numerology, the 9 numbers are assigned to 9 planets as seen below:
1 - Sun
2 - Moon
3 - Jupiter
4 - Rahu
5 - Mercury
6 - Venus
7 - Ketu
8 - Saturn
9 - Mars

This is the fundamental and most popular method of assigning numbers to planets. In some Western methods, 4 is attributed to Uranus and 7 to Neptune. Please note those born in #1 will include 1,10,19,28, #2-2,11,20,29, #3-3,12,21,30, #4 - 4,13,22,31, #5-5,14,23, #6-6,15,24, #7-7,16,25, #8-8,17,26 and #9-9,18,27

Numbers matching with Other Numbers
It is generally believed that few numbers blend well with other numbers which can be useful in terms of synastry check and understanding of one another. These supporting numbers bring in the compatibility effect. Lets see below which are the other numbers which go well with each of the numbers.
#1 - 2, 4, 7
#2 - 1, 4, 7
#3 - 3, 9
#4 - 1, 7, 8
#5 - 1, 9
#6 - 6, 9
#7 - 1, 2, 4
#8 - 1, 4, 7

In the above list, the peculiar thing is that for the #6 and #9 alone, the same number itself supports it. So people born in 6th date say get along well with other people born on the same date. It is also believed that #2 is indirectly supported by number 5 additionally. From the above list also, within the supportive numbers some numbers are more faithful and attract more than others for instance 1 is supported by 4 maximum, 2 by 7, 3 by 9, 4 by 8, 5 by 9, 6 by 6 itself, 7 by 2, 8 by 4 and 9 by 6. This has largely been observed by Cheiro back in his time with regard to the attraction foreseen between people born on different dates.

Numbers assigned to Alphabets
Similar to the system of number numerology, the 26 Alphabets are also assigned to a numbering scheme from 1 to 9. Two methods are generally in vogue, one being the Pythagoras method and the other being the Chaldean method. The generally practiced method happens to be the Chaldean system of Numerology which is the predominant system used in Vedic Numerology as well. However listed below the numbers and alphabets attributed to both the systems.

Pythagorus Algorithm of Alphabets
1 - A,J,S
2 - B,K,T
3 - C,L,U
4 - D,M,V
5 - E,N,W
6 - F,O,X
7 - G,P,Y
8 - H,Q,Z
9 - I,R

Chaldean Algorithm of Alphabets
1 - A,I,J,Q,Y
2 - B,K,R
3 - C,G,L,S
4 - D,M,T
5 - E,H,N,X
6 - U,V,W
7 - O,Z
8 - P,F
9 - No Alphabets

It is believed No.9 is sacrosanct and associated with a divine source. Hence no alphabets are assigned to #9. The 'zero' or '0' denotes nothingness and not considered as part of the study of 9 numbers.

Though Numerology has a wide say in deciphering patterns of objects also such as vehicle, mobile, house numbers etc. but when it comes to human beings, the major patterns analyzed are those arriving from one's name and date of birth.

Name Numerology
In this method, the letters of the name are summed up according to the numbers assigned to each alphabet and a final number is deduced which would be one of the numbers between 1 to 9.

For instance let's say ones name is 'Rahul'
The name numerology of Rahul would be R(2) + A(1) + H(5) + U(6) + L(3) = 17 which when added 1+7 becomes 8. Thus 8 is the number attributed to the name Rahul. There are also instances of tweaking the name by adding initials or an extra alphabet to the name so that the number changes. For instance someone may consider having their name as S Rahul or using full name like Rahul Shankaran or for that matter spell it as 'Raahul' with a double A for numerological purposes. This is mostly done based on consultation with a numerologist. However despite much tweaking being done, the name being called out has a vibration and resonance associated and has a say in the number arrived at. Sometimes change in spelling can also result in same number as for eg. adding up name Rajiv or Rajeev both result in the number 2 being arrived at finally. (Rajiv adds up to 11 and becomes 2 whereas Rajeev adds to 20 and becomes 2 again)

Hebrew Pyramid Name Numerology
There is also a pyramid method of adding names known as Hebrew Pyramid method. This has also caught a lot of attention and is said to be very powerful. Here the counting is like a pyramid till a 2 digit number is finally reached. Taking same example of Rahul, deriving the number as per pyramid is as follows:

RAHUL = R(2) + A(1) + H(5) + U(6) + L(3)
= 2 + 1 + 5 + 6 + 3
= 3 + 6 + 2 + 9 (2+1=3, 1+5=6, 5+6=11 which becomes 1+1=2, 6+3=9)
= 9 + 8 + 2 (3+6=9, 6+2=8, 2+9=11 which becomes 1+1=2)
= 8 + 1 (9+8=17 which becomes 1+7=8)
= 9
Sometimes in Pyramid method we leave it as a 2 digit number which would be 81 in this case but at most times it is derived till the maximum single digit number which would be 9.

Date of Birth Numerology:
In the date of birth Numerology, alphabets don't have a say and it's only about adding up the numbers. The two most important numbers that are derived from the date of birth happens to be the birth number and life path number. Birth number happens to be the derivation from the birth date and life path number is the total that you get adding up the birth, month and year together. Both these would have to fall within single digit ie. 0-9. There is also something called Achievement number that represents the prime challenges in one's life on both material and spiritual fronts. It is however not used as widely as the Birth number which denotes natural characteristics and the life path number that denotes the destiny of a native. As an illustration if someone's birth number adds up to 6 and life path adds up to 4, then the person's natural traits are governed by #6 (Venus) but destiny & life path goes towards #4 (Rahu).

Lets take the example of someone born on 5th Jan 1988 (5-1-1988)
Birth Number = 5
Life Path Number = 5 (5+1+1+9+8+8=32=3+2=5)
Achievement Number = 6 (5+1)

Another example of someone born on 24th Jul 1962 (24-7-1962)
Birth Number = 6 (2+4)
Life Path Number = 4 (2+4+7+1+9+6+2 = 31 = 3+1 = 4)
Achievement Number = 4 (2+4+7 = 13 = 1+3 = 4)

Loshu Grid and its connection to Vedic Astrology
Loshu Grid is a Chinese based numerology system comprising of a 3*3 square grid consisting of numbers from 1 to 9. It is said to have been originated from a turtle centuries ago whose shell was said to consist of the Loshu pattern of numbers. The numbers are always fixed in the grid and the beauty of it is that in whichever direction you sum up the numbers it always adds up to 15. Each of these numbers placed in the squares have an energy associated with it in the form of a direction, element, colour, signification etc. The below is a typical depiction of a Loshu Grid, the numbers are always fixed and this order never changes:

Loshu Grid Numbers and Associated Information
1 - North Direction, Water Element, Black Colour, Early Winter Climate
2 - South West Direction, Earth Element, Pink Colour, Late Summer Climate
3 - East Direction, Wood Element, Green Colour, Early Spring Climate
4 - South East Direction, Wood Element, Purple Colour, Late Spring Climate
5 - Center Direction, Earth Element, Yellow Colour, Mixed Climate
6 - North West Direction, Metal Element, Grey Colour, Late Fall Climate
7 - West Direction, Metal Element, White Colour, Early Fall Climate
8 - North East Direction, Earth Element, Blue Colour, Late Winter Climate
9 - South Direction, Fire Element, 9 Red Colour, Early Summer Climate

Loshu Grid Numbers and their Significations
1 - Career, Success, Business, Planning, Goals
2 - Relationships, Marriage, Love, Partnership, Self Esteem
3 - Family Circle, Ancestors, Community, Social Life, Support System
4 - Wealth, Fortune, Prosperity, Power, Abundance
5 - Health, Balance, Vitality, Strength, Stability
6 - Travel, Foreign Sources, New Opportunities, Help from people, Benevolence
7 - Creativity, Children, Peace, Projects, Futuristic Thoughts
8 - Education, Knowledge, Intuition, Self Improvement, Introspection
9 - Fame, Name, Reputation, Illumination, Integrity

From the significations, it is clearly visible that this method tries to fit in the various areas of life in 9 horizons. Most of the significations of 2nd number pertaining to marriage, relationship etc are more of 7th house related in Vedic Astrology. In Vedic Astrology, 5th house talks all things pertaining to children, creativity etc. but however here it's the 7th number in this Loshu Grid methodology which talks about such similar things. In this way there seems to be somewhat of a corroboration.

8 Types of Planes as per Loshu Grid
Loshu Grid consists of 8 types of planes of which 3 are horizontal, 3 are vertical and 2 are diagonal. It is believed that numbers should exist in each of these planes to dissect the characteristic of an individual. The missing numbers indicate remedies to be done in that particular zone of life. More number of times similar numbers appear say about the intensity of the matter in question.

1) Thought Plane (4,3,8) [Coming up with ideas, thoughts, methods. Alco called Plane of Order]
2) Will Power Plane (9,5,1) [Shows the determination, persistence and will to succeed. Also called Plane of Determination]
3) Action Plane (2,7,6) [Putting ideas, thoughts into action and executing. Also called Plane of Action]

Diagonal Planes:
1) Golden Plane (4,5,6) [Auspicious in every way, said to be highly successful and prosperous. Also called Special Plane 1]
2) Silver Plane (2,5,8) [Said to be beneficial especially related to land and property dealings. Also called Special Plane 2]

In this classification also, if one sees the Horizontal Planes, they are kind of reminiscent to the Kendra houses in a horoscope where houses 1,4,7,10 are mostly about the physical matters in one's life, 2,5,8,11 cater more towards the emotional side and 3,6,9,12 adhere to the mental spectrum. Likewise Golden Plane is said to be very auspicious which is when a person has all of the number 4,5,6 falling in the grid. This can be loosely associated with the trinal or trikona houses of 1,5,9 which are said to be the most auspicious in a horoscope.

Illustration using Loshu Grid:
The alphabets or letters don't have much of a say in the Loshu Grid and it's more to do with the number forming part of one's date of birth.

Lets say a male was born on 18th Oct 1984 (18-10-1984). For this we need to calculate 3 things before incorporating the numbers of the date of birth in the Loshu Grid Box which are the birth number, life path number and Angel number. The Angel number differs for males and females. The computation is derived by adding just the digits of the year and arriving at a single digit number. If it is male, we need to subtract the number arrived at by 11 and if it is female, we need to add the number of the year to 4 and come at a single digit number

Birth Number = 9 (1+8)
Life Path Number = 5 (1+8+1+0+1+9+8+4)
Angel Number = 7 (Year of Birth 1984 = 1+9+8+4=22=4. 4 needs to be subtracted from 11 which will be 11-4 = 7 for Male. In case it is female then we need to add 4 to year of birth which is 4+4=8)
Date of Birth Numbers = 1,8,1,1,9,8,4 (Please note 0 will not be considered)

Hence the total 10 numbers derived above should be entered in the Loshu Grid viz Birth Number 9, Life Path Number 5, Angel Number 7 and Date of Birth Numbers 1,8,1,1,9,8,4
Thus Loshu Grid for this person will be as follows:

From this depiction, it could be inferred that missing numbers are 2,3,6. Two of the numbers appear twice which happen to be 8 and 9 whereas one number appears thrice that happens to be 1. It can be inferred that since the Horizontal Line 2 'Will Power plane' is fully filled, the individual may be strong willed and a determined person. Remedies are applicable for the missing numbers as also the repetitive numbers which can be utilized accordingly.

Vedic Grid
On similar lines as witnessed in the Loshu Grid, there is also a Vedic Grid which also uses the digits from 1 to 9 in a similar 3*3 square grid. The numbers are fixed here also but however the order is different and they do not add up perfectly to 15 from all directions unlike the Loshu Grid. This is the basic default number pattern of the Vedic Grid.
The calculations are slightly different in the sense Vedic Grid does not take into account the Angel Number and it does not consider the century in the year. But the birth number and life path number calculations are exactly similar to that of the Loshu Grid. Let us calculate the Vedic Grid for the same native born on 18-10-1984.
Birth Number = 9 (Same as Loshu Grid)
Life Path Number = 5 (Same as Loshu Grid)
Date of Birth Numbers = 1,8,1,8,4 (Century digits ie 19 is eliminated)

Hence a total of 7 numbers derived above should be entered in the  Vedic Grid viz Birth Number 9, Life Path Number 5, and Date of Birth Numbers 1,8,1,8,4 (Angel number and century of year not taken)
Thus Vedic Grid for this person will be as follows:

Conclusion
Hence this is about the different mechanisms of Numerology being in existence and it's link with Astrology. One important thing to keep note is that in Vedic Astrology, a day always starts from Sunrise which tends to be around 6 in the morning depending on the horizon whereas in Numerology the date of birth is taken as 12 in the midnight. Hence if someone were born at around 2 in the mid night, it would be a new date as per Numerology but it'll still be taken as the previous day in Vedic Astrology as the sun has not yet risen in the morning. This is something that needs to always be in the back of the mind. Also in general, though some concepts appear loosely similar to Vedic Astrology, it is pertinent that any Numerological rule is additionally checked with one's horoscope also before taking a decision.

Notes
Different names may be used alternatively in numerology which should also be remembered.
Birth Number = Personality Number = Basic Number = Psychic Number = Driver = King = Moolank (Hindi) = Piravi En (Tamil)
Life Path Number = Destiny Number = Conductor = Queen = Bhagyank (Hindi) = Vidhi En (Tamil)
Angel Number = Kua Number
