Oh Priya Priya from Geethanjali/Idhayathai Thirudathe - The Golden Gem

'Geethanjali' was Mani Ratnams first and only full fledged film directed in Telugu. It was subsequently dubbed in Tamil as 'Idhayathai Thirudathe'. The movie received much publicity and catapulted Nagarjuna into a pronounced romantic hero back in the day.

The soundtrack of this album is nothing short of stellar with every number individually being sterling to say the very least. The breathtakingly cinematic cinematography also had a major role to play in elevating the screen presence of the songs from the movie. The lush green presence of Ooty by portraying it's hills and landscapes in all it's splendour enhanced both the visual panorama and aural experience a notch further above.

'Oh Priya Priya' can be considered to be an eternal timeless classic. The layered orchestration enables a dream like setting emitting golden hues and it just gets all the more rosy with the crystal clear rendition from the duo of SPB and Chitra who ooze all their soul into this lustrous composition. The overall musicality puts this number in the higher echelons of songs to have ever been composed.

It was pretty testing to even attempt playing this song. This melody has such beautiful curves sprouted throughout it's timeline and also introduces alternative notes from time to time giving it such a finesse elevation. This song transcends time and by all means is a golden gem in every way. It was truly a joy dream even trying to play this memorable composition.

Soulful Love - Kanna Kanmaniye / Deewana Deewana

AR Rahman has this uncanny ability of coming up with gems from time to time. Many a time, it might be just a minor bit portion from out of the blue but he times it so well that it resoundingly goes out of the park.

This particular composition Kanne Kalaimane or Deewana Deewana has a small verse sung by Isai Puyal himself whose strains are so addictive that I couldn't but resist trying it out.

It is basically a swara portion sung as a sargam which comes interlaced within the interlude that adds a pristine touch to the composition. The alternative use of the Dhaivatams leading to a 3 phrase chromatics is truly the signature special of this tune. 

The way it flows and branches to the main melody is simply sublime. It feels so tailormade and created exclusively for ARR to sing this composition and he has done full justice to this scorcher of a song. The man continues to conjure class since time immemorial.

The "GEM" a nice concept but what about an awards show?

A new concept called GEM(Going that Extra Mile) was introduced by our PwC office where each manager has to nominate one person as his GEM for really going that extra mile:).I too was a beneficiary to that award and yeah it was nice being recognised.But wait,why cant we have a yearly awards show ala Filmfare/Oscars where we can nominate and give prizes in different categories.Now doesn't that sound interesting. Here's my sample list of Categories. Many more could be added :)

- "Best Audit File"
- "Best Article/Manager/Partner"
- "Best Documentation"(Both Individual Component/Overall Audit)
- "Best Formatting"
- "Most Complete Audit File"
- "Most Informative Audit File"
- "Best Newcomer Award"(Honouring the young achievers who've put in a storming performance in their very 1st year)
- "Most creative piece of work"
- "Lifetime Achievement Award"(For those long serving souls whose work speaks louder than words)
- "Others"(Best Dressed/Best Personality,get as creative as you wish)

Add to that an EMCEE, some sing and dance performances and we could have the most perfect glitzy evening celebrating and recognising the best of the year gone ahead. We can have an esteemed panel of judges to do the nominating and probably a voting process to select the best of the best.

Though this entire concept seems too far fetched, I truly believe it is the best way to generate employee bonhomie and camaraderie among the people of this organisation. It is sad but the fact of the matter is half of the people do not know one another in spite of belonging to the same organisation. I know its because of the nature of work so at least a day can be celebrated where the comrades come to know about their counterparts achievements. (another of course being a yearly firm day out)

Also some other things which I wish the organisation does:
- Open a Library - I believe its a must and the entire repository of knowledge should be shared and given access to all.
- Screen a popular movie/show on a monthly basis
- Have stimulating discussions on topics both audit and non audit on a regular basis

Lets wait and watch whether all these eventually turn out to be a reality. Fingers Crossed!
