The soundtrack Jeans was a rage back in the day. It was unique, colourful and peppy with the cinematography especially elevating the experience of the music. It was the first movie to have glimpses of all the seven wonders of the world at that point in time. All the numbers had blends of various elements and it was an album with almost every single song ending up being a chartbuster. Even the sonorous love theme was lapped up big time by the music loving public.
This particular song Poovukkul had a lovely laden touch to it soaked with oodles of romance all over. The picturisation is what eventually takes the cake with shots of scenes canned at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Colosseum, Empire State Building, Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, Egyptian pyramids and the Eiffel Tower. And then finally the heroine Aishwarya Rai is depicted as the 8th wonder.
This number was rendered by the duo of Unni Krishnan & Sujatha with both doing an amicable job by acing it and providing the requisite feel good factor. 'Jeans' will always be a special album by A R Rahman for the multitude of genres which he touched in this comic caper of a double edged twin twisted thriller.
Just thought of giving a small stab at this lovey dovey evergreen romantic song from yesteryear set largely in the base of major scale 'Shankarabaranam' and rekindle olden golden memories from the times gone by.
